Photos of our presentation by Frank Alusio to our member Dr. Sidney Soanes of his 50th Year Member medallion for the APS. Sidney was presented his 50th Year Member medallion from the RPSC last year and can be seen wearing both.

Sidney is accompanied by his longtime friend Ben Wright from Massachusetts who received his 50th year APS medallion in 2010.


Congratulations to the both of you for a lifetime dedication to philately.

May 23 - In Memoriam

It is with much sadness to announce that our dear friend and long time member Ernie French at the age of 91 peacefully passed away from renal failure. Ernie was a member of our Club since 1998.

Visitation is on Tuesday 24 May from 7:00 to 9:00 pm at Turner & Porter Funeral Home on Dundas St W. (just West of Islington) Funeral Service is on Thursday May 26 at 1:00 pm at St. Mathews Anglican Church, 3962 Bloor St W. at Shaver St. Ernie, a true gentleman and assiduous collector, will be missed.

IN MEMORIAM

It is with sadness to inform that two members of our Club are no longer with us.

Terri Tettmar - Alusio

After a four-year long struggle with cancer Terri’s terrestrial life journey came to an end on 22 November 2010 at the age of 52.

Terri was WTSC member No. 945. Not only had she an interest in collecting Girl Guides stamps but one of her artistic talents was demonstrated for having designed the logo of The Greater Toronto Area Philatelic Alliance.

Terri’s Celebration and Thanksgiving for the Life took place on Saturday, 27 November 2010 in the Islington United Church, 25 Burnhamthorpe Road. Many relatives, friends, and members of our Club and RPSC were in attendance.

Jack Lyons

Jack passed away peacefully in Toronto on 25 December 2010. He was WTSC member No. 646. During is long association with our Club he served as Secretary from 1982 to 1985.

Jack had a keen interest in so many things - collections of stamps, photographs, memorabilia, history, books and a very eclectic taste in music.

Friends may call at the Turner & Porter "Yorke" Chapel, 2357 Bloor St. W., Toronto, at Windermere, east of Jane subway, on Monday, January 17, 2011 for a memorial visitation from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. A Service of Remembrance will be held at St. Paul’s Anglican Church, Runnymede, 404 Willard Ave., Toronto, on Tuesday, January 18, 2011 at 2 p.m.

They both will be sorely missed. On behalf of the Club, sincerest condolences are offered to their family and friends.
